A Proud Catholic Learning Community Open To All
St Brigid’s Learning Community is one of two Catholic primary schools in the Gisborne Parish. It is a small co-educational school, situated in the semi-rural township of Gisborne, approximately 60 km from Melbourne. The school was established in the mid 1850s by the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart. It maintains a strong commitment to St Brigid’s values of justice, compassion and education for all.

MEET OUR TEACHERS
It’s no real secret that the quality of a school is largely influenced by the quality of the teachers. We are so fortunate to have a rich diversity of talent, experience, enthusiasm and energy and our teachers truly care. They care for your children and they want nothing more than the best for them. We also believe teaching children is NOT only done at school. We strive hard to build partnerships with you – our parents. It’s what makes us who we are.

Starting School?
We have professionally produced dozens of videos that showcases the 4 levels within our school (Foundation, Year 1/2, Year 3/4 & Year 5/6. Most of our yearly intake is obviously in Foundation (Prep) but it’s also common for children to transfer from other schools into ours. Whichever level you are coming in – you will hear from the teachers within that level. We hope it will give you a great insight into what is on offer here at our wonderful school!

We can’t wait to share our story with you!

WHY ST BRIGID'S PRIMARY SCHOOL?
So many reasons - not enough time! But here are a few highlights in just over a minute!
Acknowledgment of Country
We wish to acknowledge the Wurundjeri people as the traditional owners of the land on which we meet today. Together we will help look after the people, animals and land we are on.
St Brigid’s Gisborne is a school which operates with the consent of the Catholic Archbishop of Melbourne and is operated and governed by Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools Ltd (MACS).
MACS governs and operates 292 Catholic schools in the Archdiocese to continue the mission of Catholic education to proclaim the Good News and equip our young people with the knowledge, skills and hope to live meaningful lives and enrich the world around them.
Because the good work of educating the young is a co-responsible task led by every member of the Catholic school community, School Advisory Councils have been established to provide a crucial point of connection between the wider school community and school leaders.
This governance model was designed to ease the administrative burden on our schools and parishes, allow parish priests to focus on the mission of education in the parish, enable greater consistency in school policies and procedures.

A community resource by St. Brigid’s Catholic Primary School
We take education seriously.
So seriously in fact that we want to extend education beyond the classroom and have it filter into the community.
One of the foundations of strong communities with healthy people (both mind and body) is access to education.
This free and growing resource is our way of sharing positive and inspiring messages that we feel will have a direct and positive impact on our community.
Something in here for all ages
